Cascadia Black Metal emanated from the dark forests of Olympia, Washington and has grown into a definition to describe a blend of nature and metal distinct to the Cascadia bioregion.

Cascadia Branch was a student group founded in 2012 at Portland Community College that was active in organizing several events, and for putting out the Cascadia Welcome and Resource Guide.

Cascadia Bus is a bus owned and operated by CascadiaNow! founder Brandon Letsinger for a wide variety of events and purposes. It is used each year as a shuttle at the Cascadia NW festival, and has been used for direct action and transporting goods and services. It’s longest trip was to standing rock, as part of a coalition to deliver people and tarpees to activist defenders.

Cascadian Caravan to the peace arch was an event that took place in 2012 in which Cascadians met in Portland on June 29th, Seattle June 30th, and met with Northern Cascadians at the Peace Arch Park on July 1st.

Cascadia Center for Sustainable Design and Construction opened on Earth Day (April 22) by the Bullitt Foundation, run by Dennis Hayes (founder of Earth Day) on Capitol Hill in Seattle in 2013 and is designed to be the greenest office building in the world. With a 250 year design life, it captures and disposes it’s own water, generates it’s own electricity, and was designed to show the possibilities of building for mixed use midsize buildings.

Cascadia Commons was an organization by Colin Ferguson in Portland, OR that seeked to empower Cascadia by promoting a re-occupation of the commons.

Cascadia Con was the eighth North American Science Fiction Convention, held in SeaTac, Washington, on September 1–5, 2005, at the Seattle Airport Hilton and Conference Center. They released the Northwest Passages: A Cascadian Odyssey - edited by Cris DiMarco.

Cascadia Confluence was an intersectional conference hosted at Portland State University on March 6th, 2014.

Cascadia Conservation District is a non-regulatory, grant-funded organization dedicated to encouraging the wise stewardship and conservation of all natural resources in Chelan County.

Cascadia Convergence is a gathering hosted by CascadiaNow! every summer. It began originally as ‘Cascadia Rainingman’ and is intended as a gathering of individuals, groups, organizers to come together, celebrate and discuss plans for the future.

Cascadia Convoy to Standing Rock was a convoy that was created through a partnership with CascadiaNow!, and Backbone Campaign that sent two vans, the Cascadia Bus, Backbone Box Truck with 45 people, and roughly 80 tarpees, as well as food, water, firewood and other much needed winter supplies to the Standing Rock protests happening against the Keystone Pipeline in South Dakota.

Cascadia Crossing was a finalist as an option for the newly redesigned Tri-Met Bridge in 2014 spanning the Columbia gorge along with Wy'east, Duniway, and Tillicum.

Cascadia Culture Week happens from the weekend before to the weekend after Cascadia Day (May 18th) every year, and is meant to highlight and celebrate the distinct culture of Cascadia.

Cascadia Cup is the name of the trophy created in 2004 by supporters of the Portland Timbers, Seattle Sounders, and Vancouver Whitecaps, which is awarded each season to the best soccer team in the Pacific Northwest named after Cascadia region is a football (known as soccer for tourists from the United States) competition that happens each year between the Seattle Sounders, Vancouver Whitecaps, and Portland Timbers. It formally started in 2004 as a supporters cup. The biggest supporters groups for the three clubs are the Emerald City Supporters, the Timbers Army, and the Vancouver Southsiders. Traditionally these supporters groups celebrate with the cup after their team wins it. The competition began when all three teams were members of the USL 1st division. 

Cascadia Dark Ale is a type of Indian Pale Ale (IPA) that is created using hops grown from the Cascadia bioregion that was officially recognized as a style in 2010. Oregon, Washington and Idaho grow 99% of the hops in the United States.

Cascadia Day happens each year on May 18th, and was chosen by former Seattle University professor David McCloskey on the anniversary of the Mt. St. Helens eruption, as a day to represent Cascadia because of it's visceral reminder of the dynamism of our region. We live under massive forces that shape our world, in a region defined through it's geography, geology and topography - and we are all a part of these processes.

Cascadia Doug Flag is the commonly accepted flag for the Cascadia movement, designed by Portland professor Alexander Baretich in 1994. The open source design, especially of the three horizontal stripes - green for the forests, white for the mountains, blue for the waters, and the tree - a symbol of the Douglas Fir, and the resilience of our region - are often adapted by a wide range of communities, groups, businesses and causes.

Cascadia Dirt Cup is a regional mountain bike race series showcasing and supporting Cascadia's world-class mountain bike trails.

Cascadian Explorations of Cartography was an exhibit that took place at the White Stag building in Portland, Oregon November in 2012.

Cascadia Earth First Rendezvous was a regional action camp and gathering that took place in June of 2012.

Cascadia Food Initiative was started in 2013 in Portland, Oregon by the World Food Travel Association focused on the continuing promotion of food found, cooked and created throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Cascadia Free State was a successful 11 month blockade against logging companies by Earth First in 1995 to 1996 that successfully protected the Warner Creek forest from logging. Activists established a "Cascadia Free State" in the middle of the only road to the forest, complete with "a watchtower, a moat and drawbridge, a wide variety of barricades, and frequent trainings and planning meetings for establishing other 'Free States'. The event led to the founding of Cascadia Wild, Earth First! Cascadia and the Cascadia Forest Defenders.

Cascadia Freedom Caravan was a group of Cascadian activists including Rick Fellows and Bruce Wilkinson who completed a nine day road trip in three buses to the Mexican border to inspire activism and build dialogue and connections with Mexican organizers.

Cascadia Freedom Parties were events organized in Bend, Oregon to bring together fellow Cascadians, get people excited and serve as a basis for organizing in the watershed.

Cascadia Grandslam is an annual competition hosted by Rain City Slam that brings together poets from around the Cascadia bioregion is a slam poetry competition.

Cascadia Grill in Olympia, WA proudly displays a Cascadia flag and educates patrons about Cascadia.

Cascadia Homebrew & Brewery is a taproom and brewery located in Olympia Washington.

Cascadia Innovation Corridor was first envisioned in 2016 by British Columbia Premiere Christy Clark and Washington State governor Jay Inslee, and was expanded to include Oregon at it’s founding in 2017. The coalition brings together business, academic, and government leaders from both sides of the border to explore new strategies for the region to come together.

Cascadia Institute is the website run by prominent Cascadian David McCloskey, former Seattle University Professor who helped coin the term in it’s present use, and who designed many of the earlier maps, and the current most detailed map that was featured by ESRI in 2015.

Cascadia Illuminati is a secret society and organization First and foremost, we seek to create a broader sense of community among people of various Esoteric groups and traditions. Inspired by the sense of camaraderie, fellowship and goodwill seen at the Esoteric Book Conference in Seattle, the Cascadian Illuminati seeks to encourage cross-pollination of ideas, forming of friendships and fellowship among esotericists and occultists of all stripes and affiliations.

Cascadia International Rally Championship is a grassroots competition that in the Northwest USA and Western Canada

Cascadia Map designed by David McCloskey was used as the front cover of the 2015 ESRI Book, as well as featured in person at their annual conference.

Cascadia Mayors Council was an idea by Vancouver Mayor Philip Owen and his Seattle counterpart, Paul Schell to better respond together around cross-border issues, and create an active forum of Cascadian mayors including Portland, Seattle and Vancouver, and often featured governors and other officials officially founded in 1996. Paul Schell is known for his famous declaration that “Cascadia represents--better than states, countries and cities--the cultural and geographical realities of the corridor."

Cascadia Megaquake refers to large, deep thrust earth quakes along the Cascadia Subduction Zone. The last Cascadia Megaquake occurred January 26, 1700 with an estimated moment magnitude of 8.7–9.2 and stretched from mid-Vancouver Island, south along the Pacific Northwest coast as far as northern California stretching for more than 1,000 kilometers (620 miles), with an average slip of 20 meters (66 ft), and resulted in a massive tsunamai felt as far away as Japan. Cascadia Megaquakes occur every 300-500 years.

Cascadia Megaregion defines the area from Vancouver down to Portland and was coined by the National Committee for America 2050, a coalition of regional planners, scholars, and policy-makers as well as the Canadian and US governments. A megaregion is defined as an area where "boundaries begin to blur, creating a new scale of geography". These areas have interlocking economic systems, shared natural resources and ecosystems, and common transportation systems link these population centers together. This area contains 17% of Cascadian land mass, but more than 80% of the Cascadian population.

Cascadia Monthly was a quarterly newsletter edited by Adam Munson, Michael Hodges and Brandon Letsinger distributed in Seattle, WA from 2011 to 2012.

Cascadia National Party was founded by John Phillips 9 September 2001 with the goal of launching a political party dedicated to the independence of Oregon, Washington and British Columbia. With the unfortunate timing coming only two days before the ill fated September 11th Terrorist attacks in New York, United States, it faltered quickly, but still had a large impact on the idea of Cascadia as an independence movement.

Cascadia Northwest Festival is a annual music and arts festival that happens in Granite Falls and started in 2015.

Cascadia Now! is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization started by Brandon Letsinger in 2005, and is one of the largest organizations currently promoting the idea of Cascadia. Originally CascadiaNow! the Cascadian Independence Project and one of the largest independence movements in the world, it shortened the name as it transitioned in 2014 to a fiscal sponsorship, and social movement organization able to sponsor a wide variety of projects and ideas that improve the well being of the Pacific Northwest.

CascadiaNow! featured in Micronations Exhibit took place from May to September of 2014, when CascadiaNow! was featured as part of an art exhibit being hosted by the CAAC (Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo) in Seville, Spain. The exhibition titled "Lo que ha de venir ya ha llegado" (What is to Come Has Already Arrived).

CascadiaNow! Radio Program was a talk radio show with host Zane Levine from the house of sound.

CascadiaNow! Visions of Cascadia was a 2009 arts exhibition hosted by the NCECA in Seattle, WA and curated by Aaron Murray who wanted to explore regional artists visions for Cascadia, a mythical region consisting of Washington, Oregon, Northern California, and parts of British Columbia. In reality it is a cultural biosphere, where dress, custom and art form a common culture.

Cascadian Olympians is a list that is compiled and published every two years through the Cascadia Subreddit featuring the Cascadia Olympians in each competition, as well as the number of medals, how they stand and statistics.

Cascadia, Oregon was a town founded in 1892 in Oregon State that is the first use of Cascadia in a written form.

Cascadia Playbook is a manual developed by the State of Oregon Department of Emergency Management that outlines the succession of Oregon Leadership and first two weeks response in the event of a Cascadia Megaquake or other major natural disaster.

Cascadia Research Vessel was a finalist as a name for the newest NOAA King County Research Vessel in 2016.

Cascadia Resiliency and Networking Gathering was held by the Guild of Scholars, Scribes and Independent Posties (G.O.S.S.I.P.)  from September 9-15, 2013 in Oregon Umqua Forest.

Cascadia Resist was an acoustic evening and fundraiser on June 9, 2017 at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle with bands Death Cab For Cutie with The Decemberists and Sera Cahoone for ACLU and Planned Parenthood

Cascadia Rising was our region’s biggest exercise testing our resilience and capability in the face a 9.0 Cascadia Subduction Zone earthquake and tsunami along the Washington and Oregon coast. More than 20,000 individuals including military, municipal, state and federal agencies participated in the joint response during the summer of 2016 in Washington, Idaho and Oregon.

Cascadia Sasquatch was created in 2014 by a group of Seattle based Cascadians for the Fremont Solstice Parade and has since been featured in a wide array of festivals and gatherings. It sits at just over 14’, and would be 22’ tall if standing.

Cascadia Speak Up! was a series of community public debates held in Portland, Oregon.

Cascadia Subduction Zone (also referred to as the Cascadia fault) is a convergent plate boundary that stretches from northern Vancouver Island in Canada to Northern California and is responsible for deep earthquakes and the active volcanism of the Cascade mountians. It has the potential for very large earthquakes above a 9.0 magnitude that could impact the largest population centers in the region, such as Vancouver, Victoria, Seattle and Portland and has included such notable eruptions as Mount Mazama (Crater Lake) about 7,500 years ago, the Mount Meager massif (Bridge River Vent) about 2,350 years ago, and Mount St. Helens in 1980.

Cascadia: The Life and Breath of the World is an anthology that features, essays, poetry and work by Robert Bringhurst, Hugh Brody, Emily Carr, Wade Davis, Chief Dan George, Tom Jay, Eve Joseph, Maxine Hong Kingston, Theresa Kishkan, Charles Lillard, Barry Lopez, Lee Maracle, Susan Musgrave, Louis Owens, Bill Porter/Red Pine, Eden Robinson, Judith Roche, John Schreiber, Chief William Sepass, Rob Sieniuc, Gary Snyder, Richard Van Camp, Richard Wagamese, Rex Weyler, and Jan Zwicky. 

Cascadian Tifo displays have become a common site at any Cascadia Cup match. Tifo is the Italian word for a choreographed display in which fans in a sports stadium raise a large banner together or simultaneously hold up signs that together form a large image. The largest Tifo display to date was a Cascadia Flag and Portland Flag created by the PTFC in Portland on June 24th, 2012, and stretched more than 280’x80’. Weighing more than 1500lb the 20,000+ square foot TIFO was raised by 66 individuals on 22 rigging lines, and was the largest display in MLS history.

Cascadia Times has defined bioregional environmental journalism for nearly a quarter century. Founded in 1995 by Paul Koberstein and Kathie Durbin, veteran news reporters who made their mark in the 1980s with The Oregonian, Cascadia Times has generated a large following as one of the best environmental publications in the United States. In 2004, Columbia Journalism School named Cascadia Times the most distinguished environmental publication in North America by bestowing it with the prestigious John B. Oakes award, ahead of the New York Times and other major publications.

Cascadia Underground is an independent media center and collective based in Seattle, WA that is used as a platform for magnifying diverse voices throughout the Cascadia bioregion.

Cascadia Urban Analytics Cooperative was founded by the University of British Columbia and the University of Washington in March 2017 create a cross-border educational collective to use data to help cities and communities address challenges from traffic to homelessness.

Cascadia Wikimedians User Group, an independent group of Wikimedians, is the user group which serves as the regional affiliate for the Cascadia region of North America.Its mission is to support Cascadian Wikimedians in their Wikimedia-related endeavors and to partner with local organizations in their use of Wikimedia projects.

Cascadia Zine and Resource Guide was a quarterly newsletter put out by Elona Trogub and the Cascadia Artists Guild in 2012-2013 in Portland, Oregon.

Chinook Wawa, also known as Chinuk Wawa, is a nearly extinct indigenous language originating as a pidgin trade language in Cascadia Bioregion as a way for different tribes to communicate with one another, and spreading during the 18th and 19th centuries from the lower Columbia River with the incorporation of English, Russian, Spanish and French explorers and settlers.

Decolonizing Cascadia, was a yearly mini conference from 2005-2012 hosted by the University of British Columbia, University of Washington, Portland State University in collaboration with geography departments around the Pacific Northwest to talk about newly emerging formations, and what these social and economic developments might mean for a continuingly connected and integrated region.

Dream Dance Cascadia was a co~creative experiment, community building celebration and intention manifestation practice that grew out of the Ohm Culture space in Seattle, Washington. 

Ecolopolis Studies were a series of studies done on the Cascadia corridor by Ethan Seltzer for a graduate level program at Portland State University starting in 2005 as part of Regional Planning and Metropolitan Growth Management Research Projects and as part of a federal livability partnership between the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the Department of Transportation. 

Ecotopia details the notebooks and reports of William Weston, the first American allowed into Ecotopia, an independent nation comprised of Washington, Oregon and Northern California and is a seminal utopian novel by Ernest Callenbach, published in 1975. The society described in the book is one of the first ecological utopias and was influential on the counterculture and the green movement in the 1970s and thereafter, and is heavily influential of and by bioregionalism and the Cascadia movement.

Fallout Cascadia is a standalone fan based mod for the popular game Fallout 4 that features 80km of standalone gameplay set in the dystopic future of Seattle, Cascadia.

First Convention of North American Secessionist Movements was held in 2006 in Vermont was the first public conference to feature the Cascadia Independence movement, as one of 16 secessionist movements in attendance.

Fashioning Cascadia was a exhibit in May of 2014 by the Museum of Contemporary Craft in Portland, Oregon.

'Fishtail Brewery’ in Olympia features ‘Brewed in the Republic of Cascadia’

Free Cascadia is an website and facebook group created by Cascadia flag creator Alexander Baretich. It educates on bioregionalism and decolonization.

Hardbite Chips is an independently owned, local chip making company that displays a Cascadian flag, and map of Cascadia on their bags of chips.

Heart of Cascadia is a brewing competition started in 2013 in Oregon. Initially focusing on Cascadia Dark Ales, the competition has since grown to include a variety of wines and beers.

Hedley, the music group from Vancouver talks about the importance of Cascadia as part of their inspiration and creative processes.

Hopworks Urban Brewery (HUB) in Portland, OR makes a Secession Cascadia Dark Ale that prominently features the Cascadia flag.

Innovative Cascadia Poetry was a Massively Open Online Course offered by English professor Jared Leising through Cascadia College in Bothell, WA.

J19: Guerrilla Art Night took place Thursday, January 19th, the night before the United States presidential inaugurations. Cascadians organized and took part in a self proclaimed 'Guerrilla Art School', that gathered more than 200 people for a night of sign making, button making, stenciling, photography and wheatpasting.

Kindle Cascadia took place in 2012 in Dexter, Oregon, and was the 6th bioregional gathering focused on evolving culture through the practical use of primitive skills and indefinitely sustainable lifeways.  

Leptochiton Cascadiensis is a species of Chiton that was named by scientist Julia Sigwart 2017, a longtime supporter and enthusiast of Cascadia, discovered in Friday Harbor, WA (though they live on the coasts of British Columbia, Washington, and Oregon, too!)

Lyle Zapato (alias Mr. Zapatopi) is a clandestine Cascadian renegade and revolutionary resistance fighter active since the 1990’s. He has been charged with revealing classified information to unauthorized non-NWO members, trafficking in anti-psychotronic materials and information, agitating Sasquatch revolt, tampering with juvenile black helicopters, aiding and abetting escaped Belgian citizens, hacking simulacra, mind-control evasion, general subversion of order. His apprehension would serve a blow to the underground Cascadian movement.

Mainstreet Cascadia was a term that was developed in the mid-1990’s by local officials working to use the concept to promote cross border and Pacific Northwest tourism.

Michael Moore was gifted a Cascadian Flag in Portland Oregon that flew over Wall Street at the beginning of the Occupy Wallstreet Movement in 2011.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst, the prequel to the 2009 massive hit Mirror’s Edge will be set in the futuristic city of Glass, the third largest city in the future nation of Cascadia with a population of nearly five million. The action adventure parkour style game will be set in three central districts, with players choosing from one of three factions the Conglomerate, the Runners, and the ominously-named Black November.

Middlebury Institute for the study of separatism, secession, and self determination is the website maintained and run by long time bioregionalist, writer, essayist, author Kirkpatrick Sale. His work was seminal in the creation of bioregionalism as a philosophy, and the early Cascadia movement.

Mr. Nude Cascadia is a Seattle based contest featuring and exploring male beauty.

Nine Nations of North America is a 1981 book by Joel Garreau, in which the author suggests that North America can be divided into nine nations, which have distinctive economic
and cultural features. He also argues that conventional national and state borders are largely artificial and irrelevant, and that his "nations" provide a more accurate way of understanding the true nature of North American society. The work has been called "a classic text on the current regionalization of North America".

Northwest Front was a white supremacist website started in the late 1980’s based in Idaho, that used vertical green, white, blue stripes for their flag. The group officially dissolved with the death of Harold Covington in 2017.

Occupy Cascadia was the renaming of the twitter handle for Occupy Oregon in 2012. The handle had more than 20,000 followers.

Occupied Cascadia was a feature length documentary created in 2012 by Cascadia Matters exploring decolonization and Cascadia during the Occupy Movement. 

Occupy Wall Street declared ‘Cascadia is the Future’ in 2014 - quoting Cascadia’s unique focus as a place based movements, and different potentials for non-bipartisan or issue based organizing.

One Day in Cascadia was a 2018 theatrical play featuring Stories of the Nisqually earthquake (2001) researched, devised, and directed by Dr. Jay Ball and the students of Central Theatre Ensemble from Central Washington University, and in partnership with the Cascadia Hazard Institute.

Pacific Coast Collaborative is an international governmental agency formed on June 30, 2008, including the governments of British Columbia, Washington, Oregon and California. The Collaborative was responsible for the creation of a cross-border ID card, rather than passport needed, for citizens of Washington and British Columbia and has been a chief proponent of regional high speed rail.  

Pacific Northwest Economic Region (PWNER) is a a regional U.S.-Canadian forum in which all legislative members and governors are voting members, along with a consortium of the regions most powerful non-profit, public and private sector companies. It is recognized by both the United States and Canada as the “model” for regional and bi-national cooperation that Andrew Petter, a former BC cabinet minister and President of Simon Fraser University, describes as one of North America’s most sophisticated examples of “regionalist paradiplomacy”. PNWER is the only statutory, non-partisan, bi-national, public/private partnership in North America.

Pacific Northwest English (also known, in American linguistics, as Cascadian English) is a variety of North American English spoken in the U.S. states of Washington and Oregon, sometimes also including Idaho and the Canadian province of British Columbia. It is considered the news standard dialect for some TV journalism.

Pacific Northwest Tree Octopus is an endangered species primarily located along the Olympic Peninsula. Save the PNW Tree Octopus bumperstickers and posters can be found throughout the region. They are endangered due to their popularity as hats in the 1920’s, and because of they remain a primary food source for Sasquatch. The campaign was created as an educational tool to test and teach online literacy.

Panda the Dog became the first official candidate for the Cascadia Party as mayoral candidate for Eastsound.

Peace Arch is a park in between the United States and Canadian border and is the last place in North America where citizens of any country can come together without needing a passport or ID. Rising to a total of 20.5 meters, 67 feet it is inscribed with “Children of a Common Mother” on the United States side as well as “Brethren dwelling together in unity” facing Canada and underneath both, within the arch itself it reads “May these gates never be closed”.

People’s Commonwealth of Cascadia is a clothing company and Cascadian organization run by Jen Forti in Portland, Oregon.

People of Cascadia by Heidi Bohan is a book published in 2009 by a 4culture grant about the Coast Salish, Wakashan, Chinookan and Sahaptin which encompass hundreds of tribes living in the Cascadia bioregion, and details daily life and living before settler contact.

Phillips Brewery in British Columbia features ‘Proudly Cascadian’ on each box.

Planet Drum Foundation was founded in San Francisco, CA in 1973. In association with community activists and ecologists, founder Peter Berg and Planet Drum developed the concept of a bioregion.

Public Matters was a television program by KCTS channel 9, in which host C.R. Douglas investigated in depth issues by setting them in the hypothetical nation of Cascadia using the Socratic method.

Real Food Cascadia was an annual convergence held in Bend, Oregon seeking to connect our local bioregional restoration projects with the global ancestral health movement. 

Road to Athabasca is a film following four bicycists as they journey into the Columbia and Fraser headwaters to learn more about the Alberta Tar Sands.

Rock’n’Roll Run Cascadia Medal was a medal that was awarded for any contestants who completed the Rock ‘n’ Roll Portland Half Marathon or 10K, 2014 Rock ‘n’ Roll Seattle Marathon or 1/2 Marathon and 2014 Rock ‘n’ Roll Oasis Vancouver Half Marathon or 44th Annual Cunningham Seawall 10K to receive this inaugural Limited Edition Cascadia Medal! Seattle World Trade Protests (1999) were a series of anti-globalization protests that took place in Seattle in 1999. The protests were organized by Seattle mayor Paul Schell, founder of the Cascadia Mayors Council - who wanted to use the agreement to help position Cascadia at the from of neoliberal trade who clashed with Earth First! Cascadia, and the Cascadia Forest Defenders. The clash, which effectively halted creation of the World Trade Organization after four days of intense protest - highlighted teh different.

Shell NO! was a large scale protest that achieved worldwide recognition in May of 2015 against an offshore oil platform being kept in the downtown harbor of Seattle before being taken up to Alaska for the opening of gas and oil drilling in the Arctic Wildlife Refuge. The three days of protest included hundreds of water based kayaktavists, direct action at the Port and protest at corporate headquarters. Cascadian organizers a May 18th day of action as one of the primary events during the protest.

Thin Green Line is a term for Cascadia because of it’s role as a middle ground between the largest energy markets in the world and huge fossil fuel deposits in the interior of North America—Powder River Basin coal, Bakken shale oil, Alberta tar sands, and remote natural gas fields. Big energy companies plan to unearth these vast reserves of carbon-intense fuels and put them up for sale in Asia, and Cascadia has become a battle ground for trying to halt the crude exports.

Towards Cascadia is a book by Ryan Moothart that explores many of the fundamental principles of Cascadia, bioregionalism and the Cascadia movement.

True Cascadia was short lived white supremacist website founded January 19th 2017, the day before United States President Donald Trump took office. It was an offshoot of Identity Europa, and white supremacist publishing house Counter Currents. After their members were outed by Rose City Antifa, the website was officially shut down in early 2018 their organizers lost jobs, and some who were active military members faced court martial charges.

Vote Cascadia Community Art Project that started via tumblr in 2012 followed by a flood of dozens of images that quickly spread through Facebook and Twitter. The images, part of a new interactive art project called ‘Vote Cascadia’ were a response to the release of a simple template that could be downloaded online and allowed people to fill out their hopes and desires for a Cascadia Commonwealth before anonymously reposting them. “The project works to help people engage their neighbors and communities in re-imagining city, state and place - by asking each person to anonymously share their vision of a perfect world. By comparing and contrasting our different visions, we begin to understand more intimately the needs, hopes, and desires of those around us, and find our common ground.”

West Coast Infrastructure Exchange (WCX), is an organization that brings together governors, treasurers and key development agencies help meet critical infrastructure needs over the next 30 years to fund infrastructure needs estimated at more than $1 trillion. Started in 2013, the shared goal is to make vital public works and energy projects more feasible in order to improve economic competitiveness and to maintain the region’s unparalleled quality of life. Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber, California State Treasurer Bill Lockyer and Oregon State Treasurer Ted Wheeler unveiled the nonprofit entity, along with representatives from Washington, British Columbia.

Time Magazine featured Cascadia as their #4 most likely to succeed at seceeding independence movements - behind that of Quebec, Scotland and Catalonia.

Yes Cascadia was an organization and series of open space organizing conferences held in 2016 and 2017 that gathered hundreds of Cascadians together to explore decentralized approaches to coalition building, independence and bioregionalism in the wake of United States president Donald Trump.
