Welcome to Our New Website

· Brandon Letsinger

Welcome to the new online home of the Cascadia Movement. In late September, cascadiabioregion.org moved to a new site built on WordPress. The address is the same. Almost everything behind it is new.

We made the move for one reason. The movement belongs to the people who live in Cascadia, and a website should work the same way. This one is built so that residents can take part.

What you can do here now

Create a free account on the Join page and you become a member. Members have a dashboard and a profile, and they can add to the site directly. You can share a post, add an event to the calendar, upload photos to the galleries, add an organization to the directory, or suggest a news article, a pop culture item, or a resource for the library. A member of our team reviews each submission before it goes live, so what you read here stays accurate and respectful.

The calendar gathers events from across the movement, from chapter meetups and work parties to festivals and talks. The Organization Directory lists the groups working on Cascadia’s watersheds, communities, and cultures. In the News and In Popular Culture follow how Cascadia shows up in the wider world, and A Bioregional Reader collects books and writing for anyone who wants to go deeper. If the word bioregion is new to you, start with What Is a Bioregion?

The Cascadia Store now lives here too, with a cart and checkout on this site. Groups that resell or buy in volume can use the wholesale application, and the Use the Flag page explains how the Doug flag may be used.

What is still coming

A few things are still being connected. Online giving will open on this site shortly. Until then, you can reach us through the Contact page to become a supporter. Some member features will keep filling in as more people start using them. If something looks wrong, or you cannot find what you need, please tell us.

Thank you for your patience

Moving a site this size takes care, and we are grateful to everyone who waited, wrote in, and kept sharing the movement’s work while we built. Come in, look around, and make it yours. This site is for the residents of Cascadia.
