Cascadia Work Groups
Join or start a Cascadia workgroup!
The purpose of a Cascadia workgroup is develop a decision making framework for the Cascadia movement, examine existing issues through a bioregional lens, develop and grow resources, tools and share news around that issue, and recommend specific policy for the Cascadia movement to adopt.
They develop general principles at a bioregional level, and specific policy proposals at a ecoregion and watershed level that activists, organizers and chapters can work to implement if they so choose.
Each Cascadia Workgroup:
Maintains a Directory of Organizations and Groups relevant to that issue, and within bioregional principles as a layer as part of a digital bioregional atlas.
Shares news, resources, tools and events around that issue, especially geared towards educating and getting people active.
Creates recommended policies in each area to advance sustainable bioregional boundaries, democratic institutions, and equity.
These different layers and policy proposals get combined and sent for review of our membership at the course of every year, and each council may have as many subcommittees as they would like to make sure everyone’s issues can be addressed.
Each Cascadia Workgroup works with it’s own leadership team and includes:
A coordinator to schedule meetings, facilitate and share notes.
It’s own google drive folder with notes, and excel spreadsheets
A notetaker that blogs about discussions, meetings and shares updates in the Dept of Bioregion Facebook Group and on the Dept of Bioregion page.
Sharers: Anyone who would like to share relevant information for news, updates, tools and resources related to their issue. This can include social media posts and blog posts.
