Nonprofit Program Officer

The Cascadia Department of Bioregion is a 501(c)(3) program dedicated to supporting a thriving, regenerative Cascadia bioregion rooted in place-based identity, resilience, and stewardship. As the cultural and organizing hub of the Cascadia movement, the Department works to defend what makes our region unique, build the institutions our future requires, and foster a shared sense of bioregional belonging. It also serves as a center for research, mapping, and educational initiatives that highlight the ecological, cultural, and economic richness of Cascadia.

Founded in 2020, the Department of Bioregion works globally to support the creation of bioregional departments, models, and frameworks that help communities organize at the scale of their ecosystems. While the Cascadia Department of Bioregion focuses on this specific bioregion, it operates as part of a broader network working to grow a world of interconnected bioregions and regenerative movements.

The Nonprofit Program Officer is the primary point of contact for projects and programs operating under the Department of Bioregion. Working closely with our Operations Manager, this role ensures smooth onboarding, clear communication, timely reporting, and accurate payment processing across all active initiatives. You’ll be helping steward relationships and systems that support our growing ecosystem of place-based, regenerative programs and community-led efforts.

  • Process Stewardship
Maintain up-to-date internal records and shared folders. Track obligations, disbursements, and deadlines across programs using tools like Google Drive, QuickBooks Online, and Trello. Help improve and document systems as they evolve.

  • Compliance and Communication
Work with the Operations Manager to ensure we are meeting nonprofit, legal, and grant compliance standards. Communicate key dates and updates to program leads and help maintain consistency in documentation and accountability.

  • Relationship Building
Build strong, trust-based relationships with project leads. Serve as a supportive presence and thought partner, helping programs succeed and feel well-connected to our shared mission and infrastructure.
