Every August leading into September the Cascadian’s living in areas with a college nearby witness the “college shuffle.” Passionate bright eyed young adults move around the city to collect necessities, new friends, and their new academic schedule – all while unpacking. The chaotic yet upbeat energy swarms the area and is a gentle reminder that it’s never too late to learn, teach, or get involved in your community. We are fortunate to have several organizations that focus their teachings on creating sustainable practices in gardening.
The Cascadia DOB has received a significant amount of feedback from Cascadian’s who have a passion for gardening. We are bioregionalism driven but we also know that you can’t have bioregionalism without the passion of its community. We will always support all of you in beautifying your yards, blocks, neighborhoods, and cities. For every beautiful garden is a glance away from changing policies and regulations that decrease native species, increase grid-usage (trees lower cooling in the summer and increase warmth in the winter!), and increase the amount of imported goods.
We have everything we need here in Cascadia but how to utilize it is still something we are re-learning.
